Why is the SAT so important?

The SAT measures verbal and mathematical reasoning abilities and these test scores are used to assist colleges in evaluating applicants. Many times, these scores are the determining factor in deciding admissions.

Who provides the instruction?

Appalachian Faculty from the departments of Mathematical Sciences and University Counseling/Psychological Services, along with other educational professionals.

When and where will the SAT Preparation Course be offered?

The course will be held on the campus of Appalachian State University, Walker Hall.

The ASU SAT Preparation Course for 2008 will meet over two weeks. The dates are Tuesday, April 8 and Thursday, April 10, from 6:00-9:00PM, and Saturday, April 12, from 9:00AM-2:00PM. The second week, the class meets Tuesday, April 15 and Thursday, April 17, from 6:00-9:00PM, and Saturday, April 19, from 9:00AM-2:00PM.

The spring SAT test will be offered in Watauga County on Saturday, May 3. To take the SAT exam, you must register by Tuesday April 1, 2008, directly through the sponsor, CollegeBoard (or register there by April 10 and pay a late fee).

What is the cost for the SAT Preparation Course?

Cost : $165.00

This fee covers 22 clock hours of instruction and the preparation textbook: The Official SAT Study Guide. Visa and Mastercard will be accepted, as well as checks.

Other helpful information

Please eat before arriving for the Tuesday and Thursday evening sessions, and bring a snack. Please bring a bag lunch for the Saturday sessions, as there will not be time to leave the building. Bring a calculator and dictionary for use during the sessions. Confirmation materials will include additional information.
